Our Mission

The Kidz With Purpose Peer Mentoring Program (KWP) is helping make evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) an integral part of education from kindergarten through high school. We are committed to ensuring SEL is dynamic and inclusive for all learners.

We strive to identify and contribute to the types of educational experiences that foster personal and collective growth and well-being, especially for those our society has long underserved. We imagine communities in which all young people—across race, ethnicity, family income levels, learning abilities, home language, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other factors—have the skills, relationships, and environments to thrive. Every child deserves to have rich instructional opportunities that promote social, emotional, and academic skills and learning environments that are supportive, culturally responsive, and focused on building relationships and community. 

The BIG question is, “How do we know our children are growing socially and  emotionally?” 

We really don’t until they are tested. The best we as parents, teachers and mentors can do is give our young people the best practices from our own experiences. But the key to learning any new skill is repetition. 

KWP combines both! The best practices that have helped us establish good self-esteem, good self-worth, good self-image and appreciation of others; being delivered through one of the most powerful tools in our  lives: repetition from our peers!

As the K-12 audience develops, they spend less time at home and more time with their peers. That’s repetition! KWP is a well vetted tool, when placed in the hands of those our children spend the most time with, can help them find their purpose! Program ownership is the overall key to what we teach!

From the oldest to the youngest, The Kidz With Purpose Peer Mentoring Program is based on kids helping kids to find their purpose!
